I like how some of the pictures display an abstracted version of a suicide in action. A lot of the pictures I came across included motivational quotes. Many of them also used the yellow suicide awareness ribbon and/or the word Love.
All the above pictures are very serious tone as to match the topic. However, the cartoon includes a sadistic type of humor. Multiple photos involve an everyday object paired/mixed with something dangerous. A few of the photos/pieces show a strong sense of helplessness.
Recently new laws have been passed allowing the government to do things like go through the public's old emails and track their locations through license plate readers. My visual would help to show people just hoe their lives and privacy are being affected.
Every month, thousands of unadopted animals are euthanized by animal shelters. At the same time, breeders are creating a higher animal population. I would like to create an image that helps persuade people to adopt pets from shelters rather than purchasing them from puppy mills.
Laws concerning graffiti punishment are too harsh. In 2010, a woman in New York was arrested for painting watercolors on paper. She was held for 23 hours and hundreds of dollars worth of supplies were confiscated as "graffiti tools". I would like to create a visual representation to open the eyes of the public on how unnecessarily brutal street art laws can be.
Around 30,000 people in America alone take their lives each year. I would like to create a visual representation that helps people to understand reasoning for suicides so that it may be prevented in the future.
GA Unemployment Rate: 7.4%
US Unemployment Rate: 6.1% Unemployment rates are decreasing. However, it remains a problem affecting the lives of many Americans. I would visually express some of the consequences people face while being unemployed. |
